My week according to Twitter - Week 27

This week I had a last minute trip down to London, including a day out at Thorpe Park.

I'm going to be working in Widnes from the end of August so will have to start looking for somewhere to live in Liverpool soon. Anyone looking to house share in Liverpool from around then, get in touch.

On Wednesday evening we traveled down to Feltham Travelodge, the same hotel I had stayed at last time I went to Thorpe Park three years ago. We didn't venture as far from the hotel as last time, instead just having a few drinks in the Spoons across the road.

Thursday we had day in Thorpe Park. There were a couple of new rides there since the last time I was there so we had to make sure we went on them. The first one was Swarm. This was quite similar to Air in Alton Towers, but still really fun.
The second one was called Storm Surge. This was a big rubber dingy that went up a slope before coming back down a spiraling water slide. Unfortunately we didn't get to have the full experience of this ride as half way up the slope the rubber matting came off one side the rollers causing the ride to spin our dingy round instead of takeus further towards the top. Once the ride operators finally noticed they stopped the ride and called for the technical team. Once they had arrived we had to climb out of our dingy and walk down the steps next to the slope. They then closed the ride for the rest of the day. Fortunately we managed to get Fast Track tickets for both Stealth and Tidal Wave, allowing us to skip past the 45 minute queues. We were then able to get soaked to the skin in record time!
The curse or rides breaking down seemed to continue for the rest of the day, but luckily we were still in the queue for the rest and the ride opened again fairly quickly.

After Thorpe Park we had to travel across London to our next hotel in Docklands. This took quite a while, but did allow us to see some of the sights, including the recently opened Shard. Once we had checked in and changed it was nearly 10pm so we went to get something to eat in Canary Warf. We found ourselves in Carluccio's at about 11pm, a nice Italian restaurant. Such a random moment of my life. After a couple of drinks in Canary Warf we then got the tube into the centre of London. The night out didn't quite go to plan and we ended up in Piccadilly Institute.

On Friday we had a day in London. We got on the DLR and decided we would just see where we ended up. After a nice lunch in Covent Garden we walked across the city to Piccadilly Gardens and then to Harrods. It was the first time I had been to Harrods so we had to go up to their pet shop. The puppies were so cute!
Once we were all touristed out, we got back on the tube to Docklands where we had left the car. We then had another long drive across London to get to the M6 to come home. This gave us another opportunity to do some sightseeing as we passed the Olympic Stadium and The Orbit. It made me a little bit jealous of anyone who will be watching an event there in a few weeks time!
